This area preserves the TOEFL iBT format used before the January 21, 2026 update. It remains useful for academic English practice even though it is no longer the current test format.
Reading contained two academic passages with ten questions each. Listening contained three lectures with six questions each and two conversations with five questions each.
The section contained four recorded tasks: one independent task and three integrated tasks combining speaking with reading and/or listening.
Reading uses one bank type: Academic Passage. Each passage can contain factual, negative factual, inference, rhetorical-purpose, vocabulary, reference, sentence, insertion, and summary question types.
Listening uses two bank types: Listening to a Conversation and Listening to a Lecture. Their questions are multiple choice.
The section contains Integrated Writing and Academic Discussion: a 20-minute source-based response and a 10-minute discussion response.

No. The legacy version represented here was not computer-adaptive and gave test takers items across the full range of ability.
The curated Free tier never uses Tokens. Additional question-bank packs can be unlocked permanently with Tokens or a card, while evaluations and generated study tools use their separately displayed Token prices.
Yes. Practice mode lets you choose a module and focused task type. Full Test Mode is kept separate for realistic timed practice.
