A water-main break has closed Alder Street between First Avenue and Third Avenue. The closure began at 6:00 a.m. and is expected to remain until approximately 4:00 p.m. Local residents may enter from Third Avenue, but through traffic must use Birch Street. The city bus stop at Alder and Second has moved one block east for the day. Delivery vehicles serving the pharmacy should use the rear entrance from Pine Alley. If repair work continues after 4:00 p.m., the public works supervisor will issue an updated notice by 3:30 p.m.
